Marcus Johnson, a doctoral student in the Department of Politics has been selected by the Graduate School to receive honors for his excellence in teaching. Specifically Marcus was awarded the Quinn Morton Graduate Teaching Award for instructors in the Princeton Writing Program. Marcus teaches his writing seminar “Politics and Identities.”

Marcus’s research interests focus on race and ethnic politics, electoral behavior and institutions, Latin American Politics, and experimental and survey methodologies. He is a former Fulbright Fellow and has received Bobst graduate research support for his dissertation, “Racial-ized Democracy: The Electoral Politics of Race in Panama” in which he explores the significance of race to electoral politics in Latin America, drawing on original fieldwork resulting in survey, experimental and interview based data.
